I have spent most of my life trying to figure out what I am supposed to be.
Doctor. Entrepreneur. Inventor. Writer. Father. Some version of all of them, depending on the year.
For a long time I treated those things like competing identities. Pick a lane. Build a career. Become something recognizable enough that when somebody asks what you do, you have a clean answer.
I don't really believe that anymore.
I am a chiropractor by training. I have built businesses, worked inside healthcare systems, consulted with startups, sold things, treated patients, failed at things, started over, and accumulated a notes folder full of ideas for products and businesses that solve problems I can't seem to stop noticing.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I started writing.
At first it was mostly an attempt to understand my own life. I wanted to figure out why I kept pushing through things that were clearly hurting me. Why achievement could feel empty. Why pain sometimes seemed to know something before I did. Why moments of real peace had almost nothing to do with whether my life looked successful from the outside.
That writing eventually became a book called Still Healing.
But the book is only one part of what I am doing now.
I am building things again. Inventing again. Exploring ideas around health, creativity, business, technology, presence, and the strange process of becoming more yourself after spending a long time trying to be who you thought you were supposed to be.
This website is where those things come together.
Some posts will be stories. Some will be ideas. Some will probably start with a deerfly, a coffee, a surfboard, a patient, an invention, or something completely ordinary that made me stop and see a larger pattern.
I don't want this to become a website where I manufacture certainty and hand it out as advice.
I've done enough living to be suspicious of people who seem completely sure of themselves.
What interests me more is the process of noticing. Seeing when something doesn't fit. Following an idea far enough to find out whether it has anything behind it. Paying attention when my body, my work, my relationships, or my own curiosity are trying to tell me something.
There will be writing here about healing, although probably not in the clean before-and-after way that word is usually used.
There will be writing about healthcare from someone who has spent a long time inside it.
There will be inventions and business ideas because my brain apparently has no intention of stopping.
There will be things I am learning about creativity, presence, fatherhood, pain, work, failure, ambition, and what happens when you stop organizing your whole life around avoiding uncertainty.
Some of it will connect neatly.
Some of it probably won't.
That's fine.
A big part of what I am learning is that I don't need every interest in my life to collapse into one marketable identity. Maybe the connection is simply that I am curious about all of it.
I am not particularly interested in pretending I have everything figured out. I am interested in paying attention.
In asking better questions.
In following curiosity when it points somewhere interesting.
And in sharing what I find along the way.
Curiosity in motion, I guess.
That feels like a pretty good description of what I'm doing now.
